Arthur Michael “Coach Mac” McMillion, 56, of Milton, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2015, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.



Mac was born and raised in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, where he played High School football, and college football, for the University of Eau Claire. He was All State in High School Football and Team Captain for his college football team. He met and married the love of his life, Barbara J. Hushek in 1983, and they moved to Texas where he started his Coaching Career. In 1985 they moved to Florida, where “Coach Mac” became the Head Coach in Football, Basketball, & Weight Lifting at Earnest Ward High School. In 1993 his Coaching brought him to Milton High School. “Coach Mac” was at MHS for 20 years and coached football, basketball, and started the Girls Weight Lifting Program. He became the Head Football Coach the last 10 years of his coaching career. He passionately coached there until his career took him to Hobbs Middle School. There he became Dean of Students at Hobbs Middle School until his untimely death. Mac had a love for Education and Sports, and a passion for the kids he coached and taught. His goal was “... To not only make victories on the field, but to shape young students in a way as to make victories for the rest of their lives!” He held a Master’s Degree in Education Leadership from Troy University and a Master’s Degree in Physical Education from the University of West Florida.



Mac had many names, and titles: Mac, Mike, Coach, and Coach Mac; but the greatest of all were those of Husband, Father, and PaPa Mac! He loved his family with the greatest passion. He enjoyed fishing and camping with his family; and he loved cooking, entertaining friends and family, the beach, and exercising.



Mac is preceded in death by his mother and step father, Diane and Paul Schmidt; and a sister, Mary McMillion.



He is survived by his devoted wife, Barbara “Barb” McMillion; his four children, Amie (Brad) Filbert, Missy (Adam) Floyd, Mikey McMillion, and Tommy McMillion all of the Milton area; four grandsons, Nate Filbert, Rhett Floyd, Jon Filbert and Luke Floyd; his father and step mother, Art and Ruth McMillion of Springfield, Missouri; a sister, Beth (John) Johnson of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; numerous sisters in law, brothers in law, nieces and nephews; and a tremendous amount of friends.
