John McNeill Halgrimson, 57, of Onalaska, WI, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2017 in La Crosse, WI. He was born September 7, 1959 to Dr. Kenneth and Elaine "Patsy" Halgrimson.. He married Elizabeth DeVriend on September 12, 1981 in Eau Claire, WI.
As a structural steel detailer, John was the President of LTC, Inc. and owned his own company, JMH Steel Detailing, until his health declined. He enjoyed trout fishing, woodworking, the Milwaukee Brewers, and music, especially his acoustic guitar. He turned from the Dark Side (the Minnesota Vikings) and became a Green Bay Packer fan.
John is survived by his wife, Liz; daughters, Molly and Chelsea; father, Ken; sisters, Pam Halgrimson, Melissa (Bob) Bardill, Sarah (Roberto Melendez) Halgrimson; brother-in-law, Richard (Carol) DeVriend; sisters-in-law, Sally DeVriend, Joan (Lloyd) Beauchamp, Judy (David) Berard; nieces, nephews, and especially his nephew Kevin Dahl, who was like a son to him; and John's dog Gordon.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Patsy; in-laws, Adrian and Lydia DeVriend; and sister-in-law, Patricia DeVriend.
The family would like to thank the caring staff in the 300 wing at Hillview Health Care Center and Gundersen Health System Hospice.
